Read MoreMore recently, I have become increasingly interested in artists who question the meaning of the image in the contemporary world. In this personal selection of works by Elad Lassry, disruption of the surface of appropriated images give a sense of familiarity however stop us being attached to any kind of narrative. This is used to raise questions around perception and how our relationship changes when the image becomes an object. Lassery describes his work 'somewhere in between sculpture and image' where it is transformed into an object where representation becomes abstraction.
Similarly, to my first semester work of making a public artwork an 'object' he explores how does the objecthood affect our reading of an image?
Inspired by artists in the Pictures Generation the appropriation of advertising, film promotional posters images also pose questions around consumer culture & mass media.
I'm looking at ways I can utilise similar techniques with next years body of work.
